Ian Jennings

User Interface Engineer Austin, TX

Hey, I'm Ian Jennings Jablonowski. I am a greater New York area hacker. I like the internet, but I love building it even more. I made my first website when I was 13 and have been developing ever since. Altogether I have more than 12 years experience in front end.

I have completed multiple projects for companies like Facebook, Bit.ly, and Hype Machine (you can check those out in my portfolio).

I am an Information Technology and Informatics graduate from the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University. I live in a sweet house in Hyde Park, Austin Texas.

In the off chance that I'm not building something, I like to cycle, play the drums or guitar, and think of more things to build.

Hacker

Most of us are lucky if we can even afford to buy the latest techno-gadget. But Williamsburg-based hacker Ian Jennings is actually the one inventing them. He cofounded (along with fellow Rutgers students Mike Swift and Abe Stanway) Hacker League, a site devoted to simplifying the organization of intensely collaborative tech events known as "hackathons." Jennings recently pretty much guaranteed that he'll always be able to keep himself stocked up on techno-gadgets with the sale of Hacker League to Intel's Mashery subdivision for the price of more than a few PCs. But he's not done. In fact, his latest invention, Mote.io, is a remote that connects your web browser with various music platforms like Pandora, Youtube, and Rdio, and has gotten raves on tech sites like GigaOM; he’s also in the midst of developing the Reddit app for the uber-hyped tech accessory Google Glass. So when Brooklyn is in dire need of a Marty Markowitz hologram? We'll know just who to call.

When he’s in front of people, Ian Jennings Jablonowski, the 20-year-old hacker from New Brunswick, stands over his laptop like a DJ at a club, feet planted far apart and further out than they need to be, back hunched, arms stretched out. He talks fast and has piercings in both ears and in his lip. His pointy black hair looks like that of an anime character, and the straight-brimmed black hat that sits carefully askew on top of his head does not come off.
